Follow the below steps to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

Open the Installation Folder.

Please follow the below links to download SQL Server.

Please click on "Planning" and Click on Hardware and Software Requirements

Then select "Installation" then Select "New Installation or add features to an existing installation"

Click on "New Installation or add features to an existing installation"

then the process starts as follows and click OK.

Please wait till you get the below screen, click on OK

If you have Product Key, Kindly enter 25-Character Key and click next.

If you don't have product key, Kindly select "Specify a free edition" and Select "Evaluation" and then select Next

Please reach the License Terms and check "I accept the license terms." then click Next.

then the Setup Support Files window will open as follows. Click on "Install".

Setup Starts as follows.

after finishing Setup Support Files you may need to restart the system and any way it is optional. 

Upon completion of the above step you can see the below screen, Please select Next to proceed. 

A Setup Role window will appear as follows. 

Select  All Features with Defaults and Click Next.

Kindly select all the Features in the Feature Selection window and Click Next.


Please allow processor to run the installation. 

Please select Next.

You can name your SQL Server by Entering the Name at Named instance or Select Default instance

I have selected Default instance and it will take the Instance ID by default and click Next.

Please wait. 

SQL Server will check your Disk Space Requirement to start the installation. Please click Next to continue.

You can give Password to your Server.

Kindly enter the Account Name and Password or Please select NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK and Leave Password field Blank. 

Please refer the below window.

Kindly select Windows authentication mode to allow access only to windows application.

I have selected "Mixed Mode " to allow other programs also to access my SQL Server.

Please enter the Password.

Please click on Add Current User and then click Next.

If your system is connected to LAN and if you want to allow other users to access your server, Please select Add and enter the User details accordingly.

You can see the list of Users who can access your Server and then Click Next.

Please select Install the native mode default configuration and the Click Next.

If you want to report any error to Microsoft Please select this option or click on Next. 

Click Next. 

Please check the Installation features and click Install.

Your installation will start in few seconds and will take 15mins - 45 mins to install SQL Server.

Congrats You have completed installation successfully.

You must restart your computer.

Please click OK to continue. 

After restarting your computer your computer will show the following window.

Kindly Close.

Please select Start > All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2008 > SQL Server Management Studio.

Your Application will start in few minutes.

 Please enter your Server Name. Please enter your Computer Name.

Please check in My Computer for the details.

Please select Authentication as SQL Server Authentication and Enter Login Details.

Login Id : sa
Password : Your SQL server password

You have successfully installed your Microsoft SQL Server 2008 in your Computer.
